Putt-Putt Night

Sunday night we did something a little different. We decided to go putt-putt golfing. Since there's not much to do in Danville, we went out to Illini Skateland for a little round of putt-putt to see who the master putter was. Well, let's just say that if I didn't have a 2 year old as an extra obstacle I would have walked away with it. Instead, Cubby beat me by 1 stroke. Maybe next time. Anyway, we had a lot of fun getting out and doing something new.

Christian Olympics - VBS 2008

This year our theme for VBS was the Olympics. With it being an Olympic year and all I figured the kids would have some fun with this. We opened the week on Sunday night by having an Olympic style opening ceremony where each age group represented a country that we have missions in. They were challenged to learn God's word, participate in making awesome crafts, compete in some Olympic style games, and on top of all that they got SNACKS too!!! We averaged about 42 kids each night and had a blast learning new songs and singing some oldies but goodies as well. As you can see from the pictures, we met our original goal of $300 and then some. I agreed to dye my hair and goatee pink if we could raise $300 for our missions. Well then the adults stepped in and raised the bar even more. On Thursday night we were sitting at $365, and Charlie had the idea that if the kids could raise $600 I would put on a skirt and make-up. Well, we raised $606 for the entire week. That is just an example at how awesome our God is. And that nothing is impossible if we put our hearts to it.
I would also like to thank from the bottom of my heart all the parents and volunteers that helped this year. There is no way that I could have done that without you. You are the ones that truly made VBS happen. Again thanks to everyone who volunteered and participated.

Looks like someone lost a bet!!

The bet, or challenge, was to raise $300 for our missions
and if they did I would dye my hair pink and let them
throw pies at me. But the staff and volunteers made a
deal that if they could raise $600 they could dress me up
like a woman. It looks like we got the $600 didn't we.
Trust me, I don't just wear pink shirts and skirts for fun!!

Look out Jennifer, Miles looks like he's
enjoying that way too much!!!

CIY-Move 2008

This year for CIY we went to Anderson, IN. It was a first for me and a first for some of the kids. I had never been to CIY before and neither had my wife. We had a great time not only having fun together but worshipping and studying God's word. We had a great group of kids that went including my son, Cooper, who had a blast with all the kids. This is a trip that I'll never forget. Not only because it was my first CIY experience, but I truly believe that I touched some of those kids and I know they touched me. ;) Here is just a glimpse at some of the things that went on during the week:
